Dog person since childhood. Working dog specialist. Search dog handler.
I build skills and understanding with humans to enhance working canine capability and performance.
I've been a working dog trainer and handler for 20 year. In this time, I have trained and volunteered with multiple canines in a professional capacity in search and rescue and therapy roles. Partnering with dogs is a privilege and I am in awe of the unique capabilities that my four legged colleagues bring to the team.
I have a professional background in supporting medical education and research. In this capacity, I've become very aware of the lack of available information and research regarding working dogs in healthcare facing roles. People love dogs and are excited about their potential to help humans. But love must be backed up with understanding and experience in order to ethically and effectively use them in healthcare modalities.
My goal with the Canine Colleague is to expand the scope of knowledge and training and promote human/canine partnerships that are fulfilling to both ends of the leash.
